What is All-on-4?

All-on-4 is a way to replace a full upper or lower arch of teeth using four dental implants. Two implants go in the front of the jaw and two are angled toward the back, which makes the most of the bone you have. A fixed bridge of new teeth is attached to the implants. It does not come out, it does not need adhesive and it does not cover the roof of your mouth like an upper denture.

In most cases a temporary fixed arch is attached on the day of surgery, so you never go without teeth. Your final, stronger arch is made once the implants have fused with the bone.

Benefits of All-on-4

  • Teeth in a day: leave with a fixed temporary arch on surgery day

  • No slipping and no adhesive: the arch is anchored to your implants

  • Eat and speak with confidence, with much stronger bite force than dentures

  • Fewer implants and fewer visits than replacing every tooth individually

  • Often possible with bone loss, without a separate bone graft

  • Protects the jawbone, which helps keep your face from looking sunken

Is All-on-4 right for you?

All-on-4 is often a good fit if you:

  • Have lost most or all of the teeth on one arch

  • Have several failing, loose or badly decayed teeth

  • Wear dentures that slip, rub or make eating hard

  • Were told you do not have enough bone for implants

  • Want a fixed, permanent result rather than a removable one

When another option may fit better

  • Missing one or a few teeth: a single implant or an implant bridge is usually better

  • You prefer something you can take out to clean: implant-supported dentures

  • Active gum disease, uncontrolled diabetes or heavy smoking: these are treated or managed first so the implants heal well

Age on its own is not a barrier. What matters is your overall health and your bone. Our dentists will give you an honest answer at your consultation.

The All-on-4 process, step by step

1

Consultation and planning

We examine your mouth, take digital X-rays, talk through your goals and give you a written treatment plan with pricing.

2

Treatment day

Any failing teeth are removed, four implants are placed and a temporary fixed arch is attached, usually in one visit.

3

Healing

Over the next 3 to 6 months the implants fuse with your jawbone. You eat soft foods at first and come in for check-ups.

4

Your final arch

Once healing is complete, we fit your permanent arch, custom-made for strength, fit and a natural look.

5

Long-term care

Brush twice a day, clean under the arch with a water flosser and see us for cleanings every six months.

What does All-on-4 cost?

The cost depends on whether you treat one arch or both, how many teeth need to come out, your bone and gum health, and the material of the final arch. Because every case is different, we give you an exact, itemized price in writing after your $75 consultation, before any treatment begins.

Many patients spread the cost with financing or by treating one arch at a time. See our financial information page, or read our guides to dental implant costs and All-on-4 costs in NJ.

All-on-4 questions

How long does All-on-4 last?

The implants are designed to last for decades with good care. The arch of teeth on top may need repairs or replacing over the years, just as any restoration does. Regular cleanings and a night guard if you grind help it last.

Does All-on-4 hurt?

The procedure is done under anesthesia, so you should not feel pain during it. Most patients have swelling and soreness for a few days, managed with prescribed or over-the-counter pain relief.

Can I get All-on-4 if I was told I do not have enough bone?

Often, yes. The back implants are angled to use the strongest bone, so many patients qualify without a separate bone graft. X-rays at your consultation will show what is possible.

Can I eat normally right away?

You leave with fixed teeth, but you stick to soft foods while the implants heal. Once your final arch is fitted, most patients eat almost everything they enjoyed before.

Does insurance cover All-on-4?

Most dental plans pay toward part of the treatment, such as extractions or the arch, up to the plan's yearly maximum. Our team checks your benefits and explains what is left to pay before you decide.

How much is the consultation?

The All-on-4 consultation is our $75 new patient consultation. You get an exam, a clear answer on whether All-on-4 suits you and a written treatment plan with pricing.
